NBBG: Tell us about you (your personal life, hobbies, fun facts, as much or as little as you want to share)
Madison: I grew up singing like some people grow up playing sports. Since I was 8 years old it seemed like I was singing in a different competition, festival, concert, etc every weekend! That’s what brought me to Nashville initially in 2007. I got a music business degree from Belmont in 2011, and after working in the entertainment industry for a few years I realized I wanted to own a business, and not in that industry. I met my husband in 2010 when he produced an album that I put out in 2011. We got married in 2014 and welcomed twins Olivia & Levi in 2018.
NBBG: How did you get started in this industry? Madison: Since I grew up on stage performing, I always had a knack for stage makeup. In 2013 I competed in the Miss TN pageant that goes to Miss America, and there were some people that I met through that process that introduced me into the world of pageant hair & makeup. I was totally hooked after that, and seriously started building my clientele.
NBBG: Favorite color, food, movie, instagram or facebook, what is your ennegram #? Madison: Color - pink (like a dark blush pink) Food - Mexican food Movie - Grease (LOL) Enneagram - okay I haven’t done the full, paid test, but all of the shorter tests have be in a dead tie with 1, 3, & 5. I see myself in all of them.
NBBG: What song makes you chair dance?
Madison: Pour Some Sugar On Me
NBBF: What is your favorite part of being a bridal artist? Madison: I enjoy the structure, stability, and organization of the wedding industry.
NBBG: Describe your aesthetic. Madison: My aesthetic is what I would describe as “pretty” glam. I would like to think that if you ran into one of my freshly done clients on the street you would think “Wow, who is that? She’s beautiful!”
NBBG: Describe your ideal client. Madison: My ideal client is Mallory, age 28, young professional, shops at Nordstrom, enjoys the finer things in life but is a minimalist (not a hoarder of makeup and clothes), knows what she likes but is open to a fresh perspective, & is trusting of professionals outside of her field. Probably has a dog.
NBBG: What does a typical wedding day look like for you? Madison: Wake up, drink coffee, touch base with my team to make sure everyone is good to go for the day, get ready, drive out to the venue, set up, start my appointments, finish up, break kit down & pack the car, head back home, binge on some unhealthy food and veg on the couch in front of the tv and/or take a nap.
NBBG: What do you want potential clients/brides to know about you? What do you want them to know about wedding day hair/makeup? Madison: I want them to know that I really care about making sure that hair & makeup is the LEAST of their concerns on the wedding day. I don’t want them to be worried about it or have that be a stresser for them. So, I have systems in place to ensure the day will run very smoothly. Hair & makeup for your wedding day is different than most other times you’ll get your hair & makeup done. It’s got to be nice looking in person but also hold up for 12+ hours. It’s got to reflect your personal style but also look timeless.
NBBG: Is there anything that makes you or your business unique?
Madison: Nashville Wedding Stylist is an agency that allows the bride to select her lead stylist. Not many other agencies do this!
NBBG: What are your favorite wedding day products? Madison: Kenra #25 Volume Hairspray Kenra Dry Texture Spray Kenra #19 Thermal Styling Spray Temptu Perfect Canvas Airbrush Makeup Ben NYE Final Seal setting spray Cardani lash glue Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter MHD Cosmetics lipsticks & eyeshadows.
